lst 2011 Trial on Lough Lene, Co Westmeath

8 ladies enjoyed a great day out on Lough Lene, near Castlepollard in Co Westmeath on Saturday 30th April.  Many thanks to Tommy Fagan and all the boatmen for helping us to have a lovely day out.

Lene is a beautiful venue - a crystal clear limestone lake with lots of shallows and drop offs where fish like to hang around.  Several people were also swimming in the lake as we fished past them.

 

We watched buzzards and hawks circling in the wind, and saw olives hatching off.   All the fish were safely returned to fight another day.

Results
lst  Julie Gerry           7 fish for 259cm

2nd Linda Straghan    5 fish for 185cm

3rd  Maddy Kelly      4 fish for 148cm

Most ladies caught fish with lots of other fish being hooked and lost on the day.  The very strong easterly wind and bright sunshine seemed to conspire to make them miss the target!  It also made us all glad we had experienced boatmen so we could enjoy the day out to the full without any worries.  Thank you Jenny for organising this!  Lots of lovely memories stored away.

Other ladies fishing were Jenny Casey, Susan Brown, Mary Murphy, Stephanie Troy and Hazel O’Gorman.
