3rd Trial on Lough Caragh, Co Kerry
(September 22, 2011)7 women enjoyed a lovely day's fishing on Lough Caragh - a beautiful wild brown trout and sea trout venue between Killorglin and Waterville in Co Kerry. The long distances travelled by most women were well worth it.
This lake is spectacular and crystal clear. It was a great fishing day - a nice breeze and overcast. We had been told the lake was fishing really well and we weren't disappointed. After a late night socialising everyone blew off the cobwebs very quickly as fish were rising all over the lake.
Susan and Hazel watched 2 other anglers catch and release a 15lb salmon close by - a rare treat.
Julie had a lovely seatrout - carefully returned
Many thanks to Caragh Anglers and boatmen Timmy, Patsy, Corry and Kevin for their very warm welcome and help during the day.
All fish were measured and returned.
Results were:
1st Julie Gerry with 18 fish
2nd Susan Brown with 19 fish
3rd Maddy Kelly with 7 fish
4th Mary Murphy with 6 fish
5th Jenny Casey with 6 fish
6th Hazel O'Gorman with 3 fish
7th Stephanie Troy
Chairman Jenny Casey presented Julie Gerry with 1st place prize
Plenty of other trout were risen, hooked or lost on the day and even a few perch came to the fly.
Top boatman was Timmy who boated Julie and Jenny and had 24 fish to the boat. Chairman Jenny Casey presented Timmy with his prize
After a hard days fishing everyone enjoyed another night's socialising until the wee small hours and vowed to return again soon.
